    It’s happened to everyone: underestimating how much weed is left and, being late at night, getting more is not possible. Spotting some previously discarded stems, one question may come to mind: Can you smoke them?

    For starters, they don’t contain much THC, rendering them useless if the goal is to get high. They also taste woody and not particularly good, since there’s no plant in them.     But just because stems can’t be smoked doesn’t mean they aren’t useful in some other way. Some people find inventive ways of incorporating these parts of cannabis, using them to brew teas or to make tinctures, topicals and even stem butter. While there’s not much THC in stems, some believe they may still offer some of the health benefits that have been cited by experts and cannabis lovers alike.

    Before re-purposing those stems, however, it’s important to decarboxylate them, activating whatever small amounts of THC and other cannabinoids that may be present. Once that’s done, go ahead and infuse the stems into whatever you want.

    Cannabis stems aren’t likely to get you high, but they may offer some therapeutic and relaxing effects. There’s anecdotal evidence of cannabis stem teas helping to address nausea, anxiety, chronic pain and more, all the while eliminating the sometimes unpredictable psychoactive effects of cannabis drinks.
