The CBD Skin Care Benefits Of Body Butter
CBD is a hemp based supplement that has an endless amount of benefits. Making your own CBD hand cream or body butter will turn your skin care routine from average to singular. CBD is beneficial for relieving pain, reducing inflammation, relaxing our minds and bodies, soothing sore muscles, and aiding in sleep. CBD is useful to us because it interacts with our endocannabinoid system or ECS. Our ECS works hand in hand with managing our sleep cycle, pain management, mood, and metabolism. It’s no wonder why CBD is so popular.
CBD infused cream is one of the best topical pain relievers. Cream gives you control to target specific areas of pain or inflammation. What makes a great CBD pain relief cream? Can CBD Oil Be Used Topically?
CBD oil can be used topically as part of a salve, lotion, cream, balm, or ointment. It is commonly used orally. Most people take their desired amount of drops and hold it beneath their tongue for a full body effect.
A skilled process of extraction, winterization, de-waxation, and processing is needed for the creation of CBD oil. What is neat about topicals however, is that it is easy to make your own diy cream right where you are.
Carrier Oils For CBD Body Butter
What Are Carrier Oils?
Carrier oils are natural plant derivatives. They are an important base for CBD creams. Think of them as a delivery system for CBD. CBD is a highly concentrated extract and needs to be carried for us to use it in topical form. They are exceptionally useful for absorption purposes in topical products.
The Top Best Carrier Oils To Use
Carrier oils aid our bodies in absorbing CBD to its fullest extent. We have combined a list of the best carrier oils we find most effective in relation to our rapid relief cream, in combination with an article done by Bloom Hemp, The 7 Best CBD Carrier Oils , for your CBD body butter formulation.
MCT oil (coconut oil)
MCT oil is one of the most popular CBD topical bases because of the high level of absorption it has with our bodies. Coconut oil is both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. This thin oil derives from tropical climate coconuts and palm plants. MCT oil makes a powerful all natural, tropical diy cream additive. High in vitamin E, coconut oil is a great preservative oil. It makes for a perfect ingredient for a homemade anti-inflammatory cream. Based on our personal preference, we use MCT oil or coconut oil.
Number two! Arnica oil is an herbal compound from the mountain loving Siberian arnica plant. The active chemicals in this herbal supplement are especially known for being an antibiotic. Arnica oil is a highly concentrated herbal substance that we recommend as a topical carrier base for pain. It is a long used and not forgotten medicinal oil.
Pomegranate oil makes for a great therapeutic addition to your diy cream. It goes without even saying, pomegranate oil comes from the red juicy seeds of a pomegranate fruit. It is a favorite carrier oil for skin care. If you like eating them, you’ll sure like using them in your skincare routine.
Avocado oil serves as a thick, heavy skin healthy carrier oil. Avocados are rich in oleic acid, helpful for nourishing dry skin. Our skin produces sebum, a natural oil that protects and moisturizes our skin. Avocado oil mimics this oil, creating a skin protective and nourishing layer.
Sweet Almond Oil
Holus uses almond oil for the best CBD body butter texture and sweet aroma. Almond oil is a sweet oil which comes from the kernels of almonds. It is edible and has a strong aroma. The United States dominates almond production more than any other country on earth , making it a major marketing phenomenon, according to an article done by World Atlas. This versatile fruit is the all in one, from almond milk to beauty products, it’s nutritional value far outweighs any other nut. Almond oil is plentiful and easily accessible.
Pronounced (ho-ho-ba), Jojoba oil comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant. Jojoba plants are thick woody warm climate shrubs that produce coffee like seeds. Jojoba seed oil mimics our skin’s natural oil, sebum, making it extremely useful for reducing acne production. Jojoba seed oil is more waxy than oily. Its scent is described as nutty. It is a healthy carrier oil with great skin care benefits.
Sunflower oil is enriched with skin healthy vitamins and minerals. Being a vitamin rich resource, it is a good antioxidant choice for skin protection against unwanted bacteria. Sunflower oil is often thought of as a healing beauty product for irritating, sensitive, and dry skin. Oil from sunflowers are unsaturated fats. Unsaturated gives you an unduly energized feeling.
What To Consider When Choosing Your Carrier Oil
- Shelf life duration: Some carrier oils will preserve longer than others. MCT oil is a great option for shelf life preservation.
- Skin type: Some oils may cause skin irritation depending on your skin type.
- Level of absorption: Carrier oils carry CBD. Some will carry better than others.
- Scent: Some carrier oils will be scentless and have distinct smells about them. Keep this in mind if adding essential oils.
Let’s Talk Essential Oil Infusion
Essential oils are potent plant extracts that add aroma and complements CBD’s comforting, calming, relaxing effect. Although not essential, adding an essential oil will give your CBD body butter a unique touch. They are a fun way to add in a little aromatherapy to your life. Holus’ calming , recovery , and sleep aid tinctures are essential oil infused!
Additional CBD Body Butter Ingredients
- Menthol is a cooling, pain relieving ingredient many pain creams have. For a coolant and refreshing feeling, menthol makes a great addition.
- Coffee grounds. Many skin care products with cocoa butter and shea butter, include coffee grounds for additional aroma and appeal as they work together really well.
- Vegetable glycerine. Vegetable glycerine is not a carrier oil, but has many of the same qualities. When diluted with water, it resembles a syrupy texture. It is a popular CBD product additive many companies use.

- Milligrams of CBD per milliliter of topical cream. Next step is to figure out how many milligrams of CBD are in each milligram of cream.
(Amount of CBD in mg added) x (Total ml added) ÷ (amount in step one)
Convert milliliters to teaspoons.
(step two answer) x (5 ml per teaspoon)
